Selected career highlights:
• Led climate finance program, blended & investment funds with multilateral IFIs (CAF, Development Bank of Latin America) & European national development institutions for over US$130 million.
• Led blended finance investment funds (USAID, DFC) focused on energy transition (renewable energy, energy efficiency, resilient infrastructure, applied tech innovation) with PE firms and public DFIs of over US$50 million.
• Led senior advisories on economic resource valuation, nature-based solutions and integration of green, biodiversity and climate finance and risk mitigation products and services to the private sector.
• Led due diligence on investments and validation of markets for distributed renewable energy resources and last kilometer microgrids, alternative fuels (hydrogen & biofuels), forest conservation, cooling solutions/cold chain
& climate finance transactions
• Led and advised on financial closings with the PFAN teams for renewable energy, energy efficiency & energy transition projects, including work with blended, debt and equity funds, as well as decentralized finance
platforms, thematic, adaptation & climate specific credit instruments.
Mr. Barrigh is Regional Director Impact Investment Americas for Heifer International; a rural development NGO focused on entrepreneurs and MSMEs scaling up productive value chains in the agri-food production & exports sectors
in the region. In that role, he led the creation of native biodiversity credit lines, has established special purpose & thematic blended funds, as well as the first decentralized finance platform solutions for coffee producers.
He is an active member of the Private Finance Advisory Network in Latin America & Caribbean (PFAN-LAC). In this capacity he is part of a team helming a network of thematic experts and consultants, project development, finance & funding experts seeking to strengthen pipeline in targeted sectors and regions. As part of this work the network has expanded to also include active investors & financiers looking for opportunities in sustainable infrastructure & energy transition investments, expanding the scope of active ecosystems evolving in the sector.
A native Spanish speaker, fluent in English, and having worked in Brazil, comfortable in Portuguese, he has roots in Honduras and Ecuador and is a US Citizen. He has worked and lived in Central America, Venezuela, Panama, Canada, Argentina, Mexico, USA and Brazil. Currently he lives in Argentina and the United States.
He is a Board member of the Fiorello La Guardia Foundation and the Latin America and Caribbean Council on Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency.
