LAC-CORE was very active at the American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE)’s RETECH 2010 Conference two weeks ago.  LAC-CORE organized multiple events with a wide range of attendees and many high profile speakers.

One of LAC-CORE’s major events at RETECH was a Side Event titled Opportunities and Challenges for Renewable Energy in Latin America and the Caribbean. This Side Event was a great success with over 50 attendees and five high level speakers highlighting a variety of opportunities and concerns for renewable energy in the LAC region, while discussing the progress of renewable energy in the LAC region to date.

There was also great discussion about the current situation in Haiti, and the urgent need for deployable and affordable renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies in the provision of disaster relief and reconstruction in Haiti.

Speakers for the event included:

Taylor Henderson, RES-Americas

Gabrielle Mandel, Trade Development Agency

Craig O’Connor, Export-Import Bank

José Ramón Gómez G., Energy Division / Haiti Coordinator, Inter-American Development Bank

Dan Schnitzer, EarthSpark (no powerpoint presentation)
